ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ ISD embraces sustainability as a driving force behind its mission to prepare every student with the knowledge and skills to thrive in college, career, and life. The philosophies of education and sustainability at AISD are the same: each center on the ability of our students to thrive in the future. Our Sustainability, Energy, & Environment Department advances this mission by conserving resources, supporting healthy learning environments, protecting natural spaces, and ensuring responsible environmental stewardship across district operations.

Framework
AISD advances sustainability through eight interconnected Action Areas. Cross-departmental programs conserve resources, support healthy learning environments, protect natural assets, and engage students, staff, and community in sustainability.
Our Team
Housed in the Operations & Maintenance Division, the advances sustainable operations, healthy environments, and inspired learning across AISD. Our multidisciplinary team works to conserve energy and water, reduce waste, maintain healthy indoor and outdoor environments, manage environmental compliance, enhance school grounds, and create meaningful opportunities for schools and the community to connect with sustainability.
