Family & Community Engagement

Community Engagement

The Community Engagement team is the bridge between the community and the district. We work to ensure that our community has the information they need to provide meaningful input around key decisions and get more involved in their child(ren)’s education.

Our work is guided by the belief that we make better decisions when they are made with and not for those who are affected by the decisions. We also know that engaged families and communities create stronger schools and student outcomes.

Our team aims to design engagement opportunities that are relational, culturally proficient and inclusive of the diverse students, families, community members, staff and partner organizations that make up our ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ ISD community. Our goal is for everyone to feel a greater sense of belonging and connection to the district and their schools. We are committed to ensuring that the community understands how their input informs major decisions made by the district and campus leadership.

Strong Partnerships for Student Success

Our Vision

At ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ ISD, we believe students thrive when families, schools, and communities work together. Family engagement is not a program—it’s a mindset shared across our district that supports every child’s learning and growth.

Our Core Beliefs

  • All families want their children to succeed.
  • Families are powerful advocates and essential partners in education.
  • Every family can support learning with the right tools and support.
  • ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵs are responsible for building strong, respectful partnerships with families.

Our Principles

Rooted in Equity, Inclusion, and Shared Responsibility

  1. Respect and Trust
We build relationships based on trust, respect, and open communication.

  2. Equity and Inclusion
Engagement is accessible, culturally responsive, and honors every family’s identity.

  3. Family as Experts
Families know their children best and bring valuable insight to their education.

  4. Shared Power and Decision-Making
Families co-lead and shape the programs, policies, and decisions that affect them.

  5. Collective Responsibility
ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵs, families, and communities all play a role in student success—together.

  6. Strength-Based Approach
We focus on the strengths of families and communities, not their challenges.

  7. Continuous Learning
We are committed to learning and improving how we engage and partner.

Districtwide Goals

  1. Advisory Council: Create a diverse council to guide family engagement work.
  2. Two-Way Communication: Strengthen ongoing, accessible communication.
  3. Family Learning: Offer workshops and tools to support learning at home.
  4. Staff Training: Build staff capacity to partner with families using an equity lens.

Parent Support Program

The ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ ISD Parent Support Program is focused on developing meaningful positive relationships with families and providing service coordination, support, and training to meet the needs of students and their families. Parent Support staff engage directly with families, campus staff and community members in order to ensure effective school-community partnerships and allocation of community resources by utilizing strategies that encourage authentic family engagement.
The Parent Support team serves our district families by helping address barriers to learning through resource connection and offering educational workshops that aim to enhance families’ skills and knowledge across various topics. Some educational workshops include Parent Leadership, English as a Second Language (ESL), Technology Literacy, Health & Wellness, Mental Health, Student Academics and many more.

ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵs with Parent Support

The Parent Support program is funded in part by a generous grant from the City of ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ. Parent Support works with families in Title I schools, specifically with families determined to be low-income.
