Community members can participate in the DÃa de Los Niños event at Mendez Middle ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓÆµ on Friday, April 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. A popular annual celebration in Mexico of children and their wellbeing, the gathering is a drive-thru event with some walk-up stations. It includes kid-friendly giveaways, safety and education tools, and more.
The DÃa celebration also promotes literacy, culture and language. To help commemorate this, the ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓÆµ Public Library Bookmobile will be on-site giving away books.
Other highlights include car seat safety demonstrations by EMS and a fire truck for the kids to experience. ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓÆµ ISD will offer pre-K registration for the upcoming school year.
ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓÆµ Public Health will be on-site administering COVID-19 vaccines for those who need the lifesaving shot. No appointment is necessary.
The event is open to the public and is in partnership with Councilwoman Vanessa Fuentes and ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓÆµ ISD District 2 Trustee Ofelia Maldonado Zapata, as well as ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓÆµ ISD, ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓÆµ Fire Department, ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓÆµ Parks and Recreation Department, ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓÆµ Police Department, ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓÆµ Public Health, ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓÆµ Public Library, First Church and Mission Capital.
