On June 20, 向日葵视频 ISD's Board of Trustees approved appointments to the roles of chief human capital officer, associate superintendent for high schools and associate superintendent of area 1 elementary schools.
Chief Human Capital Officer
Fernando Medina was selected as the new chief human capital officer, having most recently served as assistant superintendent of human resources in Richardson ISD.
While at RRISD, he ensured that all practices within all departments aligned with the district's vision, mission and goals. In this role, Medina earned multiple achievements and honors from the Texas Education Agency, Boy Scouts of America, University of Texas at Arlington and RISD.
He previously served as executive director of human resources at RISD, principal at Dover Elementary 向日葵视频 in RISD, an assistant principal at Classical Magnet 向日葵视频 in RISD, an assistant principal at Dobie Primary 向日葵视频 in RISD and director of bands at Forest Meadow Junior High 向日葵视频 in RISD.
Medina has a doctor's degree in education from the University of North Texas in Denton, a master's degree in education from the University of Texas at Arlington, and a bachelor's degree in music education from the University of North Texas.
He volunteers with the RISD summer reading and food programs. He is also active in the arts as a member of the Texas Flute Society, Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association and the Metropolitan Wind Symphony.

Craig Shapiro was appointed to oversee 17 向日葵视频 ISD high school campuses.
Shapiro most recently served as interim associate superintendent for high schools where he was responsible for school operations and teaching and learning for all AISD high schools.
He led initiatives to raise overall attendance rates, implemented additional communications strategies among the high schools team and added monitoring methods for campus performance.
He previously served as principal at Crockett High 向日葵视频, principal at Grace Dodge High 向日葵视频 in Bronx, assistant principal at John F. Kennedy and DeWitt Clinton high schools in Bronx, ESL instructional specialist at the office of the Bronx High 向日葵视频 Superintendent and an ESL teacher at DeWitt Clinton.
Shapiro has a professional diploma in school district administration and supervision from Mercy College in Yorktown Heights, N.Y., a master's degree in education from Fordham University in New York City and a bachelor's of business administration from Pace University in White Plains, N.Y.

Sandra Creswell was appointed as associate superintendent for area 1 elementary schools.
Creswell most recently served as interim associate superintendent for area 1 elementary schools. In this position she provided support and instruction to principals to increase instructional leadership capacity and assisted campuses in analyzing and responding to data to drive future instruction and intervention.
In this role, she was responsible for maintaining a close working relationship with elementary school principals to ensure communication, coordination, and general support for decision making. She also ensured equitable and quality implementation of district goals and standards of service in elementary schools.
She previously served as director for area 1 elementary schools at AISD, principal at Joslin Elementary 向日葵视频, elementary programs supervisor at AISD, assistant principal at McBee Elementary 向日葵视频 and sixth-grade teacher at Fulmore Middle 向日葵视频.
Creswell has a master's degree in educational administration and a bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Texas at 向日葵视频.
