Sunset Valley and Williams elementary schools get new leaders
On Monday, ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ ISD's Board of Trustees approved new principal appointments for Sunset Valley and Williams elementary schools.
Sunset Valley Elementary ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ
Trustees approved the appointment of Emily Bush to lead l.
Bush most recently served as assistant principal at Sunset Valley. In this role, she coordinated and wrote, in collaboration with the Campus Advisory Council, the Sunset Valley 2013–14 and 2014–15 campus improvement plans, she also implemented early literacy progress monitoring using Tejas Lee Progress Monitoring, sentence dictation and intervention data.
She facilitated professional learning communities for kindergarten, first, second and fifth grades, and offered professional development for parents and community members.
She previously served as assistant principal intern at Sunset Valley, as a bilingual literacy specialist at Williams Elementary ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ and as a bilingual kindergarten teacher at Williams.
Bush has a master's degree in elementary bilingual/bicultural education from Texas State University and a bachelor's degree in communications from the University of Texas at ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ.
Williams Elementary ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ
Trustees approved the appointment of Mary Cisneros to lead Williams Elementary ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ.
Cisneros recently served as principal at Golfcrest Elementary ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ in Houston ISD. In this role, she planned and supervised the implementation of instructional programs. She hired, supervised and evaluated assistant principals, teachers and administrative staff, and maintained a positive community and parent relations program.
She previously served as assistant principal at Davila Elementary ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ in Houston ISD, as an elementary coordinator of bilingual/ELL programs at Clear Creek ISD, as first- and second-grade bilingual teacher at Matthys Elementary ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ in Pasadena ISD and as a bilingual teacher at Brookline Elementary ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ in Houston ISD.
Cisneros has a master's degree in language/learning disabilities from the University of Houston-Clear Lake and a bachelor's degree in bilingual/bicultural education from Northern Illinois University.
