AISD to Host Free Citywide Electronics Recycling Event April 26

AUSTIN, Texas—The ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ Independent ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ District will host a free, citywide electronics recycling event Saturday, April 26 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the parking lot at ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ High ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ, 1715 W. Cesar Chavez St.

Consumers are encouraged to bring their used electronics to the event for recycling; accepted items are listed below. The event is being coordinated by ARC, a technology partner of AISD, and Fone4ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵs, an organization that helps local schools raise money by converting donated electronics into funds for student programs.

Senior procurement specialist Anita Anderson is enthusiastic about the program.

"This is a really great opportunity to accomplish two things: you can get rid of the electronics that you don't want any more in a responsible way, and you can help the kids in our schools get the tools they need to succeed," Anderson said.

The Fone4ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵs program will donate a portion of the proceeds from recycling the donated electronics to AISD to support technology initiatives benefiting the schools in its service area.

Fone4ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵs is run by Strategic Mobile Group, LLC of ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ, Texas, and is a small, minority-owned business that provides logistics and asset recovery services to hundreds of schools, federal, state and local government agencies as well as corporate organizations nationwide.

The company was founded in 2011 to provide schools with advanced fundraising capabilities that help the environment and students. Fone4ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵs follows the strictest environmental and security standards for donated electronics, as well as a "no-landfill" policy.  ARC partners with Fone4ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵs and Strategic Mobile Group to provide new technology solutions and services, including mobile devices and computers, for ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ ISD teachers and students.
