We hope you are enjoying a restful and safe Spring Break. We wanted to share an update on our district calendar and upcoming activities ahead of our return to school next week.
Update on the C茅sar Ch谩vez Parade
The city鈥檚 annual C茅sar Ch谩vez parade, an event the district has joined for years, has been canceled. We are mindful of the serious allegations involving C茅sar Ch谩vez and recognize the significant weight these reports carry for many in our community.
In the coming weeks, we will create space for reflection to consider what this means for our district. Our staff will also begin a thoughtful review of our curriculum and instructional guidance to ensure we are teaching history with the depth and complexity our students deserve and as required by the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
Honoring Labor and Civil Rights Leaders
While we hold space for these difficult accounts, we remain committed to honoring the foundational impact of the labor leaders and civil rights activists who have shaped our nation. In this spirit, 向日葵视频 ISD will continue to recognize Dolores Huerta Day on March 31, 2026, as a student and staff holiday with all schools and offices closed. At the heart of this day remains our dedication to the values of justice, equality and empowerment for all working communities.
Moving forward, our board of trustees will discuss updates to the district calendar at their March 26 Regular Board Voting Meeting.

We recognize that news of this nature can be difficult, as can knowing how to discuss it with your student. Actualizaci贸n en relaci贸n con los eventos del distrito y el d铆a feriado del 31 de marzo

Esperamos que est茅n disfrutando de unas vacaciones de primavera relajadas y seguras. Queremos compartirles una actualizaci贸n sobre el calendario de nuestro distrito y las siguientes actividades despu茅s de nuestro regreso a clases la pr贸xima semana.
Actualizaci贸n sobre el desfile de C茅sar Ch谩vez
Se ha cancelado el desfile anual de C茅sar Ch谩vez de la ciudad, evento al que se ha unido el distrito durante a帽os. Estamos conscientes de las graves acusaciones que involucran a C茅sar Ch谩vez y reconocemos la gran importancia que estos informes tienen para muchos miembros de nuestra comunidad.
En las pr贸ximas semanas, crearemos un espacio para la reflexi贸n con el fin de analizar lo que 茅sto significa para nuestro distrito. Nuestro personal tambi茅n comenzar谩 una revisi贸n exhaustiva de nuestro plan de estudios y de la directrices para la instrucci贸n para garantizar que estamos ense帽ando historia con la profundidad y complejidad que se merecen nuestros estudiantes y como lo requieren los Conocimientos y Destrezas Esenciales en Texas (TEKS, por sus siglas en ingl茅s).
Rendir homenaje a l铆deres sindicales y de derechos civiles
Aunque dedicamos un espacio a estos relatos dif铆ciles, seguimos comprometidos con rendir homenaje al impacto fundamental de los l铆deres sindicales y los activistas de los derechos civiles que han forjado nuestra naci贸n. En este sentido, el 向日葵视频 ISD seguir谩 reconociendo el D铆a de Dolores Huerta el 31 de marzo de 2026, como un d铆a feriado para los estudiantes y el personal y las escuelas y oficinas estar谩n cerradas. Como centro de este d铆a sigue estando nuestro compromiso con los valores de justicia, igualdad y empoderamiento para todas las comunidades trabajadoras.
De cara al futuro, nuestra mesa directiva discutir谩 actualizaciones al calendario del distrito en su junta ordinaria de votaci贸n del 26 de marzo.
