Dra. Carla Espa帽a, Ph.D. Es Profesora Asistente de Educaci贸n Biling眉e y Estudios Puertorrique帽os/Latinx y Latinoamericanos en Brooklyn College, City University of New York. Es la co-autora de En Comunidad: Lessons for Centering the Voices and Experiences of Bilingual Latinx Students, The Translanguaging Collections: Affirming Bilingual and Multilingual Learners Handbook, y co-fundadora de la Colectiva En Comunidad con la Dra. Luz Yadira Herrera.
Dr. Jes煤s Amaya Guerra, Ph.D. estudi贸 la Licenciatura en Ciencias de la Educaci贸n y Maestr铆a en Desarrollo Organizacional en la Universidad de Monterrey. Maestr铆a en Psicopedagog铆a Cl铆nica en Espa帽a. Doctorado (PhD) en Educaci贸n en la Universidad del Norte de Texas y estudios postdoctorales en Neurociencia, Aprendizaje y G茅nero en el Programa de Velma Schimdt en UNT. Conductor de programas de radio y televisi贸n. Actualmente es Editorialista de los peri贸dicos El Norte y Vanguarda de Monterrey. El Dr. Amaya es Autor y coautor de 35 libros en espa帽ol e ingl茅s entre los cuales se encuentran: Padres obedientes e hijos tiranos, Padres duros para tiempos duros, Que hago si mi media naranja es toronja, Educando la generaci贸n Zombi, Vicios y virtudes de fracaso y 茅xito, entre otros. Docente por m谩s de 45 a帽os y en la actualidad es catedr谩tico del departamento de Educaci贸n y Psicopedagog铆a de la Universidad de Monterrey.
Keynote Bios
Dr. Carla Espa帽a, Ph.D. is Assistant Professor of Bilingual Education and Puerto Rican/Latinx and Latin American Studies at Brooklyn College, City University of New York. She is a former middle-grade teacher and literacy consultant. As researcher, author, and co-founder of the , Dr. Espa帽a works with teacher preparation programs and school districts to support teachers, librarians, coaches, and administrators. Her teaching, writing, research, and workshops live at the intersection of critical literacies, bilingual/ multilingual education, children鈥檚 literature, language ideologies, curriculum development, and teacher education. She is the co-author of with Luz Yadira Herrera, Ph.D.
Dr. Jesus Amaya Guerra, Ph.D. studied a Bachelor's Degree in Education Sciences and a Master's Degree in Organizational Development at the University of Monterrey. Master's Degree in Clinical Psychopedagogy in Spain. Doctorate (PhD) in Education at the University of North Texas and postdoctoral studies in Neuroscience, Learning and Gender in the Velma Schimdt Program at UNT. He is a host of radio and television programs. He is currently an editorial writer for the newspapers El Norte and Vanguarda de Monterrey. Dr. Amaya is the author and co-author of 35 books in Spanish and English, among which are: Padres obedientes e hijos tiranos, Padres duros para tiempos duros, Que hago si mi media naranja es toronja, Educando la generaci贸n Zombi, Vicios y virtudes de fracaso y 茅xito, among others. He has been a teacher for more than 45 years and is currently a professor in the Department of Education and Psychopedagogy at the University of Monterrey.
