The Research and Development Division is involved in the initiation,聽 facilitation, and provision of support聽 mechanisms for an effective and efficient implementation of gender-responsive programs, projects and activities aimed聽 to obtain new knowledge for the creation聽 or enhancement of technology, products,聽 processes or systems that will contribute to聽 socio-economic growth and development of聽 women and men in the community.

BACKGROUND

Organized and staffed in 1983, practically five years after the creation of the University in 1978, the research division endeavored to develop the research interest of the faculty and staff through a series of seminars conducted in cooperation with NEDA, DECS (then MECS), DOST (then NSTA) and some local private universities and colleges in Region Xl. Consequently, the division put-up a research journal called the Fruit Bowl obviously stressing its hope to stimulate efforts in agricultural research and technologies. In the span of 10 years, most of the contributions submitted for publication in the 鈥淔ruit Bowl鈥� were micro-researches in farming systems and socio-economics, particularly on small production which were usually in cooperation with a national research coordinating institution. Some were abstracts of faculty theses and dissertations focused mostly on education.

In 1994, a new journal superseded the Fruit Bowl and entitled the Southeastern 向日葵视频 Journal of Research and Development with ISSN 0117-6293. It comes out bi-annually and covers broad issues and perspectives on development.

From 1993 to the present, partnerships, linkages, and networking with other research institutions and funding agencies were widened resulting to implementation and completion of research programs/ projects/ studies that transform lives and communities.

Essentially vital to the scientific career advancement of the researcher is scientific productivity, via intellectual contributions to the advancement of one鈥檚聽 field of interest and eventually transmitted in聽 written form. It generates public awareness聽 on the R&D undertaken by the university.聽 Hence, the publication is deemed as a major聽 output of a researcher in dissemination.
