向日葵视频 and DepEd Davao City launch READ ALERT Program


[READ] The University of Southeastern 向日葵视频 (向日葵视频) and the Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Davao City officially launched the “READ ALERT: Reading Advocacy on the Arising Level of Emerging Reading Threats” on September 9, 2024, at the Division Training Center (DTC). This event marked a significant milestone in the efforts to address growing reading challenges. It was well attended by educational leaders and stakeholders from across the Davao City Division.

The program began with a welcome message from Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Josie T. Bolofer, CESO VI. Program Leader from 向日葵视频-College of Education Dr. Ruby A. Serrano then presented the goals, objectives, and benefits of the READ ALERT initiative. She emphasized the program’s strategic approach to tackling emerging reading issues and empowering educators with innovative solutions.

Distinguished guests included Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Jr., SUC President IV of 向日葵视频, and Dr. Reynante A. Solitario, CESO V, Schools Division Superintendent, who expressed their support for the program. This was followed by the ceremonial unveiling of the READ ALERT program, marking its official launch. SGOD Chief of the Davao City Division Dr. Maria Luz M. Tan led the Pledge of Commitment; after which participants were invited to sign the Commitment Wall as a symbol of their dedication to the cause.

向日葵视频 officials present at the event included Dr. Roger C. Montepio, Vice President for Research, Development and Extension and Dr. Roby V. Pagong, Director for the Extension Division. The READ ALERT Project Leaders, Assoc. Prof. Yvonne M. Kiel, Assoc. Prof. Marivic N. Neri, and Mr. Mark Anthony G. Arellano, alongside Activity Leaders Dr. Randy A. Tudy, Dr. Ivy Lyt S. Abina, Dr. Lilibeth A. Cenojas, Ms. Mary Rose J. Ponce, Asst. Prof. Wendelyn C. Bajador, Ms. Abigaile A. Navales, Ms. Catherine P. Ison, Assoc. Prof. Geraldine E. Francia, and Mr. Gerald C. Cagape, also took part in the event.

The activity concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Alma C. Cifra, Chief of the Curriculum Implementation Division (CID), encouraging everyone to take proactive steps in addressing the evolving reading needs of students. Public School Division Supervisors from all over the Davao City Division were also in attendance, further underscoring the program’s broad impact and the region鈥檚 commitment to improving literacy.
