The University of Southeastern ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ (ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ) and the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office (DA-RFO) XI have officially strengthened their collaboration through a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signing ceremony held at the Office of the President Board Room, ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ Obrero Campus, Davao City.
This MoA signifies a strategic alliance for two DA-funded research initiatives: the performance Evaluation of the National Rice Program in Davao Region and Performance Evaluation of the High-Value Crop Development Program in Davao Region with Focus on Cacao. The projects aim to assess and enhance the impact of these agricultural programs, ensuring sustainable progress for rice and cacao farmers in the region.
Present at the signing were University President Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Jr., Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension Dr. Roger C. Montepio, College of Applied Economics Dean Dr. Roperto S. Deluna, Jr., ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ Socio-Economics Research and Data Analytics Center (SERDAC) Mindanao Center Manager Ms. Rizamae S. Palen, and project leaders Dr. Ronald D. Estrada and Assoc. Prof. Christine R. Varquez. The DA-RFO XI was represented by Regional Technical Director for Operations Marie Ann M. Constantino and Planning Monitoring Evaluation Division (PMED) Chief Maria Febe T. Orbe.
During the ceremony, both parties underscored their commitment to fostering research-driven agricultural development. Dr. Gabales emphasized ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ’s dedication to bridging academic research and real-world agricultural applications, while Director Constantino highlighted DA’s continuous efforts to support evidence-based policy-making.
This partnership marks a significant step in advancing agricultural sustainability in the Davao Region, leveraging research to drive innovation and support local farming communities.
